Dr. Hector J. Gomez, M.D. PhD.

Dr. Gomez has been involved in the medical sector in several capacities over his 30 year professional career. He started his professional career as a practicing physician in 1973. Dr. Gomez entered the pharmaceutical industry twenty years ago. He previously served as President and CEO of Transcend Therapeutics, Inc., leading the transition from a private to a public company (IPO) in 1997. Before that he served as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Vertex Pharmaceuticals and as an Executive Director with Ciba-Geigy Corporation. He was also a Director and Senior Director at Merck/MSDRL Corporation. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of DNAPrint genomics, Inc.

Dr. Gomez has been responsible for the full development of several drugs, 10 of which are currently on the market including the very first ACE inhibitors (Enalapril (Vasotec) and Lisinopril (Prinivil/Zestril)). His development experience includes botanical, homeopathic and over-the-counter drugs.

Dr. Gomez received an M.D. from the National University of Colombia, a Ph.D. from Marquette University and a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacology from Tulane University.
